August 2000

Thu Aug 3 - Brainwash
It was another one of those nights. Everything flowed perfectly. I had everyone's attention and they were all laughing. The stock material has become very polished, and I added a few new things that worked well.

Sat Aug 5 - Mock Cafe
Bombed. OK it wasn't that bad. I was way to cocky after Thursday's success.

Sat Aug 12 - Mock Cafe
I had a good set, the audience didn't laugh. OK some of them did laugh, but most of the people up front, who all came in together, did not laugh at anything I did. They did not laugh at anything anyone did. Obviously not big comedy fans.

Sat Aug 19 - Mock Cafe
I got to host. It was fun. My hosting skills are improving. Feeling less self-conscious about hyping other people.

Thu Aug 24 - Brainwash
Weird crowd. All the comedians were in the back sort of not paying attention, but I got some good laughs. The non-comedian audience was too stoned or too busy with their laundry.

Sat Aug 26 - Mock Cafe
Had a pretty good set. I did almost none of the material that I planned, which is always a good sign. Even though I no longer script my sets, I think I need to spend more time on brainstorming new bits. I think I'm missing out on some potentially funny stuff. I'm taking the same route to punchlines too often. I'm developing a nice rhythm, but I don't want to fall into following a formula.
