November 2000

Thoughts
Yes once again I took time off in the late fall. Once again I caught pneumonia! This time though I've found a doctor who has gotten to the root of the problem. And I should be able to avoid this next year. Also, those of you who know me will notice that the constant cough is gone. So anyway, upward and onward as they say.

Sat Nov 11 - Mock Cafe
First show after a long layoff. Did none of the bits I planned, so the set went great.

Sat Nov 16 - Brainwash
OK, I really do believe that every comedian, no matter how bad they are right now, has the potential to be very funny. Last Saturday at the Mock I saw a comedian who has been performing for a long time, with little improvement, step up to the next level. It was wonderful to watch. However it's hard to keep potential in mind when you see a comedian clear the room. (No really, 13 people left during his set.) Especially when your set is coming up. So I went up to an angry crowd. I ate it at first, but started to get them back after five minutes or so. It was not fun though. Looking back I can see that this comedian does have potential, but either needs to change his delivery style, or intensify his current style. This and a few dozen other things should keep the people in their seats.

Wed Nov 22 - Paradise
I didn't perform, but this continues to be the most consistently funny showcase in town. You should check out their next show, the second Wednesday in December.

Colin;
That Michael Keaton impersonation was disturbing! How do you do that to your face?
