- Brainwash - 2/1/01
- Great show tonight. Many funny people as usual, plus an unusually high number of pro
comedians coming to work on new stuff. Good crowd. Small but attentive. I had a good set.
It was a little rough. I haven't performed for a while.
There was one comedian I had never seen before who did an amazing linguistic exercise. It
was like a cross between Norm Crosby and Alan Ginsberg. Very funny stuff, but it took a
bit more attention than the audience was prepared to give. I hope he doesn't let the mild
reaction at this point distract him. It will work.
Also last night I saw the most offensive routine I ever saw. It takes alot to offend me.
I am not offended by racial slurs when they are done for a constructive purpose. Even if
that purpose is to get a laugh. But when one racial slur after another is thrown out in
anger, there is no call for it. It's not good for your soul.

- Didn't do a set but saw many funny comedians. A couple of sets that need lots of work,
but mostly very funny stuff. Good crowd also.
- Mock Cafe - 2/10/01
- Pretty good set. It's been nearly two weeks since my last set, which is much too long.
Also got to see one comedian hit the next level. She did a great set. The crowd was a little
tough, but the laughed at everything she said. I love watching this happen.

- I NEED TO DO MORE SETS!!! Have I said that before? Well I'll I'm saying it again. It's
not that easy though. I have too much going on in my life. I miss the days when I was a lazy
slob. Back before I got my act together I sat around and played video games all day. I had
jobs that didn't demand much from me. (Pumping gas, warehouse, etc.) I had no ambition and
it was comfortable. Then I made the mistake of wanting something out of life. Now I have all
these goals and stuff, and not enough time in the day to do them all. I'm unemployed, but I
spend most of my days working on new skills to help me land my next job. (Hi-tech sucks)
Then I work on my new screenplay. (The first I've done that doesn't suck.) The I work on this
website. Then I work on my short films. The I work on my poetry. (Yes poetry.) Then then then
I work on my comedy. And somewhere in there I watch car racing on TV.
So anyway, I had an OK set. The bit about getting the senior discount went over well. I was
afraid that no one would believe it, but they did. (I'm not sure how to take that one.) Wrapped
up with the gay porn jokes that always work. My timing was bad. My delivery was passable. My
energy was a little off. Also my, I guess presentation was bad. I was at home working on
a computer program when my wife reminded me that it was time for me to head out to the Mock.
I was unshaved and unshowered and badly dressed. It made me a bit uncomfortable.
One comedian did a great set that was as funny for the audience reaction as it was for the
material. He read a list of politically incorrect statements that you aren't allowed to say
in San Francisco. The list was hilarious. The audience got more and more uncomfortable. It was
wonderful to watch. I HATE political correctness!
