- 26 comedians! Some of them very very funny. Some of them not. I was somewhere in between.
I had a couple of pretty good moments, and some moments of silence. Mostly I'm still out of
practice. Part of the problem was the comedian before me walked the room. (Translation: His
set was so bad that audience members ran for the door.) I did actually walk the room once back
in Iowa. I made the mistake of doing five minutes of material trashing Michael Jordan. Iowa,
it turns out, is too close to Chicago to pull this off. The important thing for the comedian
is to learn from this experience. Last night was a good audience. Many paying customers, who
all came to laugh. So for them to get up and leave, let's just say, is not a good thing.
I should qualify this by saying that the comedian in question has potential. He just needs to
learn to translate what he thinks is funny into something that the audience can connect with.
Also, comedians, when the sign-up sheet gets put out, PLEASE SIGN IN THE ORDER YOU ARRIVED!
I was the 6th person there and wound up 15th on the list. It's not right.

- Not a great set. Not sure what I was trying to do/say. And if I don't know, how will the audience?

- Unemployment may be coming to an end. I have a good shot at a job. I didn't realize how
much this has depressed me. I keep blaming my bad sets on lack or preparation and stuff, but
I realized after my set tonight that I am depressed. I'm just not feeling funny.
