Mock Cafe - 5/01/2004

No show this week. No one told us though, and a bunch of us were waiting for over an hour outside the door. Boo!

Rooster T Feathers - 5/5/2004

I love this place. Great crowd laughed at everything funny that I said. Several very funny comedians I've never seen before. One guy, who's name escapes me, was brilliant. A cross between the best of Robin Williams and Andy Kaufman.

Vacation - 5/14/2004

Just got back from 4 days in an RV. I am way relaxed. I didn't realize how tense I had become. Saw many animals and trees. Sat in the hot tub. The usual stuff.

Writing - 5/15/2004

I've been working on this story in my head for a while. It's about holographic parades and people's interaction with them. I realized today however that the themes and world of this story mesh perfectly with my FACE OF GOD story which has been asking to become a novel anyway. With this extra material, which has lead to thoughts in some other areas, fleshes out the combined story. I'm still not ready to start on this novel, but I feel better about what I have ahead.

Overdue Rejection - 5/16/2004

I should have gotten this rejection letter a week ago. Last time I sent these people a story I got a rejection letter after a month. This time it's been three months plus a week. I've let myself get my hopes up.

An on-time Rejection - 5/24/2004

Got a rejection letter yesterday. Not the overdue one. It was a good one. I've gotten three previous rejections from this publication, but this is the first one with a few words of encouragement added.

Overdue Rejection - 5/27/2004

The overdue rejection is overdue no more. The annoyingly self-addressed envelope appeared in the mail today. Ah well, such is writing.

Spending Money - 5/30/2004

Horror of horrors, I am now officially a grownup. OK, buying the house probably made me a grownup, but this is a close second. We've bought a new car. A 2005 Scion XB. This may be the coolest car I've ever owned. The Hearse was almost cool, but suffered from a bit too much intention. After Harold and Maude it was more odd than cool. Many will say that the XB is more ugly than cool, but they are fools and they are wrong. It still doesn't seem real in many ways. Mostly because I don't actuall have the car yet. It's being shipped up from LA. I have the VIN though. It's a fine and wonderful VIN.

Then there is the RV in Arizona. A friend of my sister's is selling their dead father's RV. Yes, he died in the RV. It needs some work but they don't want much money for it. Nothing is definite yet. I'll keep you posted.
