April 2006

Back from vacation - 4/8/2006

Just spent two weeks in Tucson and various points between here and there. I'll write up the details of the trip elsewhere.

Work - 4/8/2006

Still no details. Hopefully Monday will reveal all.

Writing - 4/8/2006

I did almost no writing over vacation, but I'm all psyched now to start the rewrite on the novel.

Wrasslin - 4/15/2006

I went to the APW show at Kezar tonight. Much fun indeed. The quality of the wrestling ranged from great to horrible. The half-time show was the truly bizarre Living Dead Girlz. A team of zombie go-go dancers whose act climaxes in one of the dancers chopping up the other girlz with a chainsaw, spewing blood and guts over the audience. Yee hah!

One politically incorrect observation: This was the largest gathering of straight white guys I have ever seen in San Francisco.

RVing - 4/22/2006

Right now I'm in Gilroy California, the garlic capital of the world. I can't smell the garlic though. All I can smell is the smoke caused by the overheating battery isolator. I had hoped that trading in the 23 year old RV for a barely used one would eliminate the emergency campground repairs. What a fool I was.

Writing - 4/23/2006

Finally put to paper, or rather screen, the beginnings of a short story that's been haunting my head for the last few weeks. It's been keeping me from starting on the novel rewrite. I think it'll make a good story, but it's a difficult piece. The events in the story never happened but they explain my feelings at a very difficult time in my life. A time I thought I came to terms with long ago, but apparently not.

Reading - 4/25/2006

Started reading Toni Morrison's BELOVED today. That woman's words could be a church.

Writing - 4/26/2006

Since Sunday night I've been trying to get it together to finish this story. Every night something has come up to pull me away. Tonight there was nothing to stop me but myself. Obviously if I was able to work I would be writing something very different right now.

Writing - 4/29/2006

Fun days indeed. The words are puking out of me all of a sudden. This morning I wrote up an old comedy routine of mine, polished up the third draft of a story I've been revising for a long time, finished the second draft of my difficult story, and wrote out some notes for a short mystery I've had in my head for a while. Some good work.
